There are a few things that you might want to see when you visit Cordoba. The Roman Bridge is unique and intriguing. The bridge has sixteen arches and reaches across the Guadalquivir River. In the middle of the bridge, you can see a statue of San Rafael, who was known as the patron saint for Cordoba. The night lights only enhance the beauty of the bridge. You can see the lights forever it seems. The bridge has some incredible architecture. You will find the setting rather romantic as you sit and glaze at the warm glowing lights.
Cordoba has a diverse history, which makes it a fascinating city to visit. While exploring the city, you will see squares, alleys and streets that are beautiful to see. Cordoba has a rail system that allows you to travel to other areas without much problem. You can stay in the city and travel to some of the bigger cities and still stay in a smaller city for comfort and less congestion. Depending on the time of year you arrive in Cordoba, you make se some of the spectacular festivals they have going on at different times of the year.
You can enjoy a day at the Botanical Gardens located on the bank of the Guadalquivir River, which not only allows you to see the beauty of the flowers and vegetation in the gardens, but you enjoy a view of the river. In the gardens, you will also find the one of a kind Ethnobotanical Museum that is dedicated to showing the relationship man has to the plants. You will see greenhouses that have different climate controls for the different plants and an open-air area where plants grow wild. Right across the street from the gardens is the zoo.
Other gardens to see when you visit Cordoba are the Alcazar Gardens, Paseo de la Victoria and the Ribera Gardens. By the Ribera Gardens, you will see all the vegetation and plants that grow around the river as well as the wildlife such as the water birds and the mills nearby. If you are taking the kids, you will want to take them to the Fuente Redonda Educational Farm. They will have the time to use the swimming pool, walk around the orchards and visit the stables. There are many things to do on the farm in Cordoba.
The Aquasierra water park is another great place to take the kids, especially when the temperatures are hot and they need relief. The water rides and slides will provide some fun and excitement for the entire family. A holiday in Cordoba is exciting for the family or even if you travel by yourself. There is always something to do and see. The area is historic with some amazing ancient ruins and points of interest. Everyone has a great time and you never feel like you are an outsider because the locals make you feel welcomed as they talk to you and offer assistance if you need help.
